there has been an awakening
have you felt it
you don't know a thing about me
where i'm from what i've seen
you don't know the first order like i do
this video is sponsored by squarespace
no one can stop you with a squarespace
website
after months of hinting john boyega
couldn't wait any longer and came out
and discussed his disappointment with
his role in the disney star wars films
and he's done
it within a year of its release very
impressive jon it usually takes a lot
longer than that to get the truth out
and boy has that put some social justice
warrior shills in an awkward position
up to now their go-to for anyone who had
a problem with finn's
character was to call them a racist but
what do you do if the actor that played
the character
has the same opinion as these so-called
racist british gq recently did an
interview with john
and of course the subject of star wars
came up and he had some very interesting
things to say
john said what i would say to disney is
don't bring out a black character
market them to be much more important in
the franchise than they are and then
have them push to the side it's not good
i'll say it straight up like you guys
knew what to do with daisy ridley you
guys knew what to do with adam driver
you knew what to do with these other
people
but when it came to kelly mary tran when
it came to john boyega
you knew [ __ ] all so what do you want me
to say what they want you to say is i
enjoyed being part of it it was a great
experience
i'll take that deal when it's a great
experience they gave all the nuanced
adam driver
all the new ones to daisy ridley let's
be honest daisy knows this
adam knows this everybody knows i'm not
exposing anything
jon also talks about naomi aki and kelly
mary tran and even oscar isaac suffering
the same treatment
and jon's description of black
characters and blockbusters couldn't be
more spot-on they're always scared
they're always friggin sweating
[Music]
and to make sure it's very clear he's
talking about his character's poor
treatment
starting with the last jedi he also adds
about jj's return
he wasn't even supposed to come back and
try and save your [ __ ]
you're a selfish traitor now jon's
frustrations are fully understandable
the first new piece of star wars footage
after so many years
was that a finn was this gonna be a
stormtrooper defecting
if so [ __ ] great idea is it someone
in disguise
it suggested so many exciting
opportunities and then
oh dear now i am a fan of films using
relatively unknown actors
which john was but i did recognise him
from attack the block now jon was very
good and attacked the block and trust me
he had a lot more character than he
ended up within star wars but we were
naive back then when that teaser came
out
we didn't know what was to come and
sadly neither did john then the movie
poster came out
not only did john's character finn look
like he was going to be pretty important
now he was carrying a lightsaber and it
was a blue one
now i'm starting to get very interested
i had lived through jar jar binks so
trust me i was still cautious
but my excitement was definitely growing
the possibility of a stormtrooper
becoming a jedi
seemed not only exciting but also
original and then we got this
chewy we're home
and [ __ ] yeah i'm now fully in
sell me tickets now [ __ ] now that was
my level of excitement i can only
imagine how excited john must have felt
starring in a star wars movie [ __ ]
childhood dream come true
i'm going to be in star wars one day
more like a loser on youtube [ __ ]
what's a youtube now unlike a lot of
other people who correctly predicted
where this franchise was heading
i enjoyed the force awakens a lot yes
we'd seen a lot of it before but i
thought jj abrams had big plans
we'll get back to that some other time
andy's first film is just a soft reboot
to ease people into the new series of
films
a lot of us left the cinema that day
quite relaxed as we hadn't been raped by
another jar jar binks
little did we know that by the end of
the new trilogy we'd look back at jar
jar with great fondness wishing we could
go back to simpler times when even the
worst characters could not destroy my
love for the franchise
and jon made it through the force
awakens looking pretty good he even got
to do some things
that were brave we'll use the charges to
blow that blast door
i'll go in and draw fire but i'm gonna
need cover sure you're up for this
hell no i'll go in and try to find ray
the troopers will be
on our tail and his relationship with
ray even looked interesting what if they
did start a relationship and then both
became jedi so couldn't be together that
would have been pretty cool
sadly for jon the development of his
character stopped at the end of force
awakens he actually went
backwards you don't know the first order
like i do they'll slaughter us
we all need to run instead of a highly
trained stormtrooper
child slave darkseid defecting hero
with force abilities we got goofball
clown sidekick the first guy we were
introduced to
who started off this story isn't even
important in the end he doesn't even get
the girl
well no one does oh hello someone got
the girl
let the scissoring begin finn's journey
backwards
started with the last jedi ryan's
desperate attempt to be on the cool kids
table and prove he was one of the girls
had him go out of his way to belittle
every male character and i think one of
the worst to watch was finn
nothing like having your character who
escaped slavery in the horrors of war
acting like a buffoon and then getting
slavery in the horrors of war
explained to him by two new characters
that don't even know him or what he's
been through
you don't know a thing about me where
i'm from what i've seen
you don't know the first order like i do
a young black actor has to sit quietly
while the stereotypical asian tech nude
and the middle-aged white dude talk now
at the time of last jedi
mine and many many other people's huge
sin
was to point out how badly these
characters were written the social
justice warrior shills came out of the
woodwork to declare
we were all racists and misogynists and
that's all it could be
these characters were amazing apparently
just give it to me one more time
simpler and this is where we see the
difference between social justice
warriors and normal people
now a normal person usually finds it
easy to feel if they like a character or
not
little things just click in their heads
that make them enjoy certain
characteristics
some are personal while a lot are shared
human qualities that's why some
characters
are loved by all it could be any number
of things they think they're cool
tough maybe lethal funny charismatic
unbelievably skilled
or what my mother would always say about
apollo creed sexy and
god made him i do remember the horror of
waking late at night in my little robot
bed to the sound of the rocky vhs
getting another workout
maybe tomorrow i'll have a new daddy
it's time to take me to the moon bing
bong
when a normal person finds themselves
like a character he usually comes from a
subconscious level
yes the interest might be a conscious
decision as in i like star wars or i
like kung fu
or strong women these reasons may have
you going into the film wanting to like
that character
but connecting or enjoying a character
should be at the time of watching
just naturally happening and if it's not
happening no matter how much you want it
to
like me watching finn in last jedi if
it's not happening
it's usually very obvious why and in
finn's case
it was the terrible writing and the fact
finn who had started as one of the leads
was now just a supporting character an
ex-soldier
had been turned into an idiot now a
social justice warrior doesn't have
any of these types of issues when they
open up the little list in their head
that contains their own personal likes
and interests it's pretty
empty because they are only interested
in the superficial not what makes us
human
it's all about their junk skin color and
who they want to rub against
things normal people usually don't think
about when enjoying a character
look i'm sure like the rest of us ripley
may have had a big old crush on private
vasquez for all we know yes of course
they'd make a lovely couple but we don't
care we only care if she lives and she
saves that little girl can't wait to see
that little girl in aliens three i don't
remember getting the old vhs out of
beverly hills cop when i was a boy
and thinking man eddie is cool smart
charismatic and funny as [ __ ] but i'm
not interested because he's not like me
a robot no social justice warriors lists
only contain shallow things
okay this is why social justice warriors
support any garbage that is ticking the
boxes they think are important
no matter how the actors feel or what
crap role they've been given this is
also why they get so excited when it is
announced that a classic film is going
to be remade
but they're going to swap the genders or
race because that's the only
criteria they care about the power of
patty compels you
craft talent care for a good story means
nothing to the social justice warrior
they just think finn's great because
finn's there who cares if they made him
a joke who cares if jon is completely
disappointed he's ticked the list
he's good this attitude leads to
professionals like jon being
disappointed in receiving
second class roles and gives the
approval to hollywood to just keep doing
what they're doing
but worse than your average woke twitter
clown
who's calling people racist for not
enjoying this
is the shill media who stand and applaud
any crap to guarantee
their next free ticket and the chance to
interview jj or ryan they're selling out
people like john and kelly by applauding
horrible token film roles
roles with bad dialogue and little
impact on the story and don't talk about
the stupid [ __ ] beacon thing that
finn got to do how do you know
a feeling even if that scene wasn't
ridiculous it didn't make up for his two
films of complete simping
for ray god get this beacon far away
from here then she'll find me and be
safe

but what is the shield to do after jon
confirmed that he agreed with the people
that said his role ended up being badly
written
and that his character had been pushed
to the background how is a shill to
respond when jon talks about how the
reordered character hierarchy of the
last jedi was particularly hard to take
well if you like one of our favorite
shills brian
i have no gag reflex for ryan johnson
young
you first do the obliged heartbreaking
comment and wish things were better and
then you just dismiss what jon says
and remind everyone that the last jedi
deepened his character
and that it was the rise of skywalker
that just didn't didn't just
didn't quite pay it off you have jon
discussing how his character being
pushed aside in the last jedi was hard
to take
and uses the words of jj coming back
after last jedi as
saving your [ __ ] and brian decides to
point out
that he is wrong that's some [ __ ]
balls brian and they're rinds
and they're in your mouth but it's not
just the small potatoes like brian who
like to ignore or twist what some actors
say
angela watercutter senior editor of
wired
recent article could have her up for a
special mention
at the modern writers woke awards later
this year you see
back in late 2017 angela reviewed the
last jedi
and let me just say angela's review is a
real
feast for the brain she ticks off all
the modern journalism classics digs at
the old guard
misogynists racists you know it wouldn't
be a movie review without them
every entitled troll another classic and
toxic masculinity look there's too many
to list
but trust me angela's got them all every
observation is flavored by her wokeness
waxing lyrical about canto bite and it's
longer arc that tackles real issues
because remember kids is bad yes i know
canto bite if only angela had the
foresight to see the kanto bite would
come to be seen as the worst
and most pointless segment of any star
wars film
slightly awkward for her but happily and
fitting for a senior editor at wide she
pulls out one of my
favorite lines the star wars fan upset
that the franchise heroes now include
wait for it clutches pearls women and
people of color
preacher sister yes straight out lies to
pump up her wonderful review
angela as you can see is such a champion
of women and people of color and film
that she'll deny their total existence
to fit her agenda
and i'm guessing make her job a lot
easier we don't need any of your help
angela and she's not alone here also
talks as if star wars nerds don't watch
anything else in between star wars
movies getting released does she
actually think the longtime star wars
fans
aren't also fans of terminator alien
star trek tarantino the matrix mad max
lucy lou game of thrones superheroes
every 80s action film
lucy lou martial arts films wait have i
done this somewhere before
most sci-fi comedy lucy lou and three
[ __ ] decades of will smith movies
just to name a few
somehow in angela's mind these
problems star wars fans have avoided
enjoying all of these movies
and that's why the sight of jon is such
a shock to them
sorry lando who would you get going your
pirate the wake shields that write these
type of
exploitative articles also like to
conveniently forget that rogue one with
its female lead
and truly diverse cast was highly
successful and is probably the most
evenly liked if not loved disney release
across the fan base
while solo with its male
white lead completely bombed on release
it does seem to me odd that angela uses
the term
clutches pearls as a put down to
supposed misogynists
seeing as clutch's pearls refers to
acting like an
overdramatic woman angela seems to be
pushing the stereotype of women a bit
too far
it seems a bit what would you say
misogynistic
in case i'm wrong let's just check you
might also hear it used to describe a
man
though it tends to carry sexist
overtones then it makes it imply that
he's
weak oversensitive or anything else
stereotypically
seen as negative female traits oh again
angela a little bit awkward there
but the absolute pinnacle of
self-delusion and lack of self-awareness
is angela's most recent star wars
article
john boyega is right about star wars
obvious to those who watched the trilogy
obvious to angela but not worthy of
mentioning
in any of angela's previous articles
regarding star wars
so brave angela so so brave
you are great i suspect angela actually
didn't find it so obvious to see
through her woke lenses which is lucky
for her because if she had said
anything about the pathetic characters
john and calamari tran were given to
play
she would have been called a racist and
a misogynist just like the rest of us
were
again angela so brave you are great
and you would think that after jon has
opened up about his experience you would
think that angela
being a uh um journalist would want to
focus on jj abrams and ryan johnson
who both wrote and directed these films
to investigate why and how this happened
to john and kelly you could imagine that
angela would discuss why kathleen
kennedy didn't step in and insist on
john and kelly's roles being made more
important to the story
angela could have written an amazing
article on how disney and lucasfilm
should do better but no there is no
chance we're getting that from angela
because to her it's still all about the
toxic fans
and that's all she wants to talk about
you see even though angela now states
that it was obvious to those who watch
the trilogy
she also states that most people talking
about it at the time
you know doing what angela would have
done if angela had a spine
or could see past her own wokeness is
the people talking about at the time
were actually fans decrying inclusion
i'm not sure how angela would defend
that opinion to the people of colour who
were upset about the dumbing down of
finn in the last jedi coming to her own
conclusion that much of the talk was
anti-inclusion makes it seem as if
angela doesn't even consider their
opinion
which if true is frightening for a
senior editor with a large platform
maybe angela should not assume that as
john said black characters always being
scared and always freaking sweating is
good enough
she also states that there was far less
talk about what happened with those
characters
once their stories unfolded on screen
angela's implying that the people
discussing jon at the time
stopped talking about it because they
were satisfied that john was pushed
aside by the end of the story
jesse right angela just can't comprehend
the people
are talking about jon's situation less
now
because they have been talking about the
treatment of john's character for two
years
while you were too busy making sure you
were getting your next disney press pass
angela's article is so self-serving and
delusional that she is more worried
about being right
than supporting the actors of color and
discussing disney and lucasfilm's
treatment of them
it is ironic that angela's lovely
headline that just celebrates diversity
the last jedi will bother some people
good is above a photo of two actors who
were probably the most bothered about
how their characters were betrayed i
wonder if that's all so good
the price of reason called angel or out
on this via twitter
angela's response was a lovely piece of
denial not contradictory
oh my god okay let's make this as easy
as possible for angela here
in this article john is very clearly
talking about the dumbing down of his
character
in the last jedi he even talks about jj
coming back
to quote fix your [ __ ] angela not only
states that she agrees with john
but also states that it was obvious here
in the former article
angela praises the character of finn
calling finns and rose's trip to canto
bite one of the top level examples of
the film
bringing real issues to the fore to
drive it home
angela also quotes genomato from the los
angeles times
films like these leave their mark on an
entire generation
representation matters which and i'm
sure john would agree be a nice quote if
it wasn't about this film
amazingly and i'm sure it's with a
straight face angela says
praising the characters of finn and
rhodes in the last jedi and calling them
top level examples in this article
and then agreeing with john about the
poor treatment of finn and rose's
characters in the last jedi why smugly
adding it was obvious
in this article is somehow wait for it
not a contradiction
everybody knows you never go full
retired no hunter s thompson christ
angela you'd have him turning in his
grave if johnny depp hadn't spent three
million dollars to shoot him out of a
cannon everyone needs a friend like
johnny you shoot yourself in the head
and then your friend shoots you out of a
cannon just to make sure everyone got
the point
jon also talks about the difficulties of
trying to operate within what can feel
like a permanently rigged system
a system called hollywood that can
easily deflect any criticism we saw it
in the past with kelly marie tran kelly
released an interesting open letter
regarding her youth and working in
hollywood in it she's clearly talking
about society as a whole and the
hollywood system how did the media
handle this and not upset the hollywood
overlords well they changed it into an
article about online hate and if you
don't believe me
just refer to the original article oh
and even though this looks like a quote
it's not this doesn't appear anywhere in
kelly's letter oh and that also goes
from the note from the editor that is
also not taken from kelly's letter so
you have to understand that the editor
didn't believe that kelly's words would
speak for themselves
because what kelly was saying was
pointing to people like the editor and
their employers
you see if you put online harassment in
large font
again not mentioned by kelly above a
part quote from kelly people just
automatically put the two and two
together and assume that's what she's
talking about tricky little [ __ ]
editor but if you take the time to read
the open letter the open letter that
doesn't mention online harassment once
you see that kelly points the finger at
the media hollywood
and companies that profited from her
insecurities that the companies
perpetrated in the first place [ __ ]
ouch kelly no mention
of star wars fans and to think after
posting this jj
reduced her role in the final film do we
believe this
now after the new york times posted the
original article how did all the other
media outlets report on this open letter
what a surprise they just repeated the
same headlines the new york times editor
had added into kelly's letter and now
idiots say her harassment is well
documented even though
all the other news outlets went with
using the lines from the new york times
that the editor put in
they weren't part of kelly's open letter
and just like magic hollywood and the
media are no longer the focus of kelly's
letter it's back to the toxic fans that
she didn't mention
now i'm no fool oh i can feel the people
getting angry with me saying that one
i'm sure like everyone online actors
receive their fair share of morons
including [ __ ] racist i quite often
get abused for being australian
nobody talks about mick like that
kangaroo shagger
idiot doesn't he know how hard they are
to catch
jon talks about idiots saying he can't
be a stormtrooper because he is black
which is [ __ ] horrible and ridiculous
but to claim
everyone who points out how badly
written a character is that happens to
be a person of color or female
as a racist or a misogynist gives
hollywood a free pass
these shills applauding their token
efforts just encourages them to keep the
charade up that they actually care
quinn all they care about's the money
jon was shrunk down to the point that
he's virtually disappears in the chinese
version of the force awakens poster
was that a toxic fan call removed by
disney to bow down to real racism
just for more [ __ ] money was it the
so-called toxic fans that asked for that
no
callie calls it out and so does jon but
somehow these shills ignore that and
keep blaming the toxic fans
and if the mulan film has taught us
anything it's that they don't care and
they don't plan on changing
if disney can go as far as thanking the
public security bureau of tapan
where several re-education camps are
located the same camps that detain
thousands of innocent people because of
their culture and beliefs
if you're publicly thanking those people
on what is meant to be the biggest film
of the year you don't have any plans of
changing any time soon now if
hollywood's really concerned
about representation and opportunity for
minorities they wouldn't be doing crap
like having to get certain quotas for
your chance to win an oscar
finn's character ticks that box do you
think that makes john any happier no
instead of giving token roles like paul
finn that has to run around screaming
for the white people
companies like disney could i don't know
for every 100 million they spend on
complete trash
give 10 million to some young
disadvantaged filmmaker who can then
populate the film however he wants
this would bring in far more diverse
people into the industry than giving out
token positions like
janitor or nerd girl the last jedi alone
cost around
317 million dollars and that's without
advertising
now imagine what our 10 percent new
talent fund could get us
that one film alone would get us another
six get out movies
or another three and a half train to
basans or if i could talk everyone into
it
300 more are ghost stories christ that
pie-heading scene would [ __ ] go on
forever this would give us lots of new
faces in lead roles
and with disney just removing jon from
the poster in china and everyone
applauding their tokenism if they can
get away with it
why not other companies just recently
jon had to step down as joe malone
brand's international ambassador
after they removed him from the chinese
advertising yes they did a disney and
not just any ad an ad that jon created
and directed
and celebrated his personal story
showcasing his hometown
including his friends and family these
companies just don't give a [ __ ] sadly
for the joe malone brand they don't have
thousands of shills that will do their
bidding
and blame their own customers for john
being mistreated joe malone have come
out and apologized to jon
as they should and now we're just
waiting on kathleen kennedy's ryan
johnson's
and jj abrams apology so next time one
of you
shill clowns or disney defenders want to
call someone a racist
maybe look at the company and people you
are defending because i'm telling you
pointing out when minorities and women
are given terrible roles does more to
help them get
better roles in the future than clapping
at any crap some studio feeds you but to
do that you're gonna have to risk those
free [ __ ] movie tickets and on that
cheery note
let's hope john and kelly get to be in a
good film soon looks like
oscar's gonna be doing okay
and if you don't agree with anything i
say and if you don't agree with john's
assessment of finn
rose and poe and you can just ignore how
the actors feel
then go watch the amazing star wars
series and enjoy it
because john kelly and oscar don't
there's been an awakening
have you felt it

well it looks like hollywood is
collapsing
at least from the latest report on the
new york post
they're very concerned after both tenet
and mulan
completely tanked losing hundreds of
millions of dollars
proving out that hollywood literally
cannot exist
without the coasts cannot exist without
all the movie theaters being open and it
may just be
too late why disney's delay of black
widow means doomsday for hollywood
hollywood's hopes of a comeback this
year are officially dead
disney put the last nail in the coffin
on wednesday when it delayed
several of its much anticipated fall
flicks including black widow starlings
starring scarlett johansson and steven
spielberg's west side story
the move while not surprising due to the
still raging shutdowns
has experts calling a wrap on the 2020
movie going
season black widow about a kgb operative
set for november 6 will now hit theaters
in may in 2021
disney side west side story movie
version of the classic broadway musical
has been delayed a full
year to december 2021.
two films were among the biggest flicks
left in hollywood's schedule this year
and were in lingering hopes
that they might encourage people to
return to theaters in spite of
everything going on right now
but analysts say disney had little
choice to pull the film
after seeing the results of recent
experiments from the form of warner
brothers spy chiller thriller
tenet and disney's own mulan tenant
starring robert pattinson
reeled an attempted 36 million in
domestic box office
since hitting the screens on september
3rd which i'm cam
partners analyst eric handler says
proves that big releases
cannot make it without theaters in major
cities like new york and l.a
tenants us results definitively show us
that middle america cannot carry a tent
pole film
you need the coasts well that's not true
it's saying that middle america while
most of it still shut down can't carry
films
and also maybe we didn't want to see
tenant although i did want to see tenant
but i'm
fine jumping in a boat if you know what
i mean he said adding until that happens
studios will delay the release of their
big
and best movies disney bypassed the us
theaters entirely
with with its live action remake of
mulan by receiving the
release of the freak exclusively to its
new streaming service disney plus
it told customers who were already
shelling out seven dollars a month for
disney plus
they needed to fork over an additional
30 bucks to see the film which cost 200
million dollars to make
although disney has not released
official results third-party data from
samba tv suggests
about 1.1 million households downloaded
the flick
on its opening weekend of september 4th
which translates to 33 million dollars
a figure if accurate is a disaster
according to lightshed
partners analyst rich greenfield and i
don't know what they're going to do
i mean after this are they going to just
um re-release these films once theaters
open up
i i don't know i i suppose i'll try
mulan did not work it's not a viable
alternative to disney's theatrical
strategy he said
it works for smaller movies he cited
trolls world tour universal pictures
animated movie
that bypassed theaters and headed
straight to vaude for 1999 in april
that film garnered a hundred million
dollars in rentals according to
universal and appeared to be a viable
strategy to combat the doldrums of
lockdown so you know that
this is not a reasonable comparison i
don't believe
a couple of differences one this was at
the
absolute height of lockdown before
people had really
adjusted so many people were just
sitting around collecting their
collecting unemployment or waiting to go
back to work
and kids were home from school
so people were more likely to rent these
movies and it was priced correctly i
think
20 dollars is a more reasonable
is a more reasonable price uh for these
films especially when you don't have to
pay that on top of a seven dollar
monthly fee
so essentially 20 bucks clear or 37
bucks for milan it was just a greedy
move
comscore media analyst paul long last
name
pointing to mulan's hefty price tag and
the fact that disney said the movie
would be free to watch in december
as central to its paltry showing
consumers are price sensitive right now
shocking thirty dollars on top of your
subscription that's pricey for some
uh that's pricey for everybody he said
turning before
turning into the clouds is still hanging
over once a vibrant industry
it's profoundly different marketplace
than it was six or seven months ago he
said
we don't know the long-term implications
but studios and movie theaters are
facing a reckoning
and it's directly related to the
lockdowns i don't know if that's true
i don't know if that's necessarily true
because
i think that what i suppose it is
i i i suppose it is um
related but i think people are also
figuring out
that we don't necessarily need to go to
the movies
that we don't necessarily need to pay
for big hollywood blockbuster films
especially from people that don't care
about us and just want us to vote they
want
the way they want you know i think that
ultimately when we look at you know
hollywood rethinks movie release
schedule as tenant stumbles at the box
office
i don't know how long it's going to be
before you see movies with you know a
billion dollar
movie franchises is it over
i'm wondering if if the billion dollar
movie is just
gone the disastrous debut of warner
brothers spy thriller tenant at movie
theaters hollywood has fing as uh
hollywood hits the panic button 10 at a
200 million
christopher nolan production amassed
less than 30 million in ticket sales
since hitting the theaters
students are making decisions based on
what happens with tenant sid mkm
partners analyst eric handler
what i think you're going to see is more
movies get pushed back until we see
major markets reopen again
but that's the thing even if major
markets reopen
i don't think people are going to be
excited to go
back and sit shoulder to shoulder in
theaters i mean when i saw endgame
i was literally shoulder to shoulder
with people
and i didn't even care now do i care
going forward not really
but people do there are a lot of people
that will just
never go back to the movie theaters
again you know
but tenant with pre-lockdown was
projected to garner
850 million dollars
in global global ticket sales was
expected to jolt the industry back to
life
instead it arrived at the box office
with a whimper grossing 178 million
internationally
and just 229.5 million in north america
bringing his total global box office to
207 million dollars which means they
lost
hundreds of millions on tenant too
given the blockbuster marketing budget
usually being
you know another 200 million on top of
that what we won't want to do
is make the mistake of putting a very
very expensive 200
million 200 million movie on the market
unless we're sure theaters are open and
operating at a significant capacity
but again i'm saying even if they're
open
i'm telling you people are just not
going to go back to the theaters like
they used to
i don't think we're going to see a
billion dollar movie for a very long
time
maybe ever i know that sounds hyperbolic
but
i i just i don't know i mean i'm you i
used to go to the movies
at least once or twice a month now i
haven't gone to the movies and like
geez it feels like a year right and now
i'm used to it
now i'm used to just waiting for this uh
waiting for
uh a digital version to be available
somewhere and then just getting it
so let me know you know are you
expecting to go back to the theater soon
has this me
has this reminded you um more like hey
you know what i don't need to go and
spend 50 bucks at the movie theater
um what do you think the future for
hollywood is
and how bad do you hope it'll be i hope
you enjoyed this video i hope
that maybe holly would take it on the
chin for
six eight months a year uh might you
know
make them think uh about
you know making good movies again i hope
you enjoyed this video we'll talk to you
again real soon
[Music]
you

if you're a viewer of this show you
might remember that almost a year ago
we released an episode about the
influence china's communist party
censorship has on the american
entertainment industry
called china doesn't want you to watch
this video
so i guess i shouldn't be surprised
there's a big problem
at the heart of disney's newest
live-action release
mulan and i don't just mean their
distribution strategy
with its 200 million dollar production
budget not
including the cost of marketing putting
mulan out on vod
instead of releasing the film in
theaters was an incredibly high stakes
bet
even for a giant like disney box office
numbers for mulan aren't out yet but
given the 30 price tag on top of an
existing disney plus subscription
and the fact that it'll be available at
no extra charge on the platform in
december
i'd be curious as to how many people
have actually seen it yet
full disclosure i haven't but this video
isn't about the movie it's about disney
you see some sharp-eyed viewers took a
closer look at the credits for mulan
and noticed something disturbing beyond
the usual capitulation to the chinese
government we talked about before
for this movie disney specifically
thanked eight different chinese
governmental agencies
including four propaganda departments
and a public security bureau
in the xinyang province so why does that
matter
that's where the chinese government is
perpetrating a slow-motion
ethnic cleansing of uyghur muslims right
now
hit the subscribe button ring the bell
icon to get notifications and
let's get into it on this heartbreaking
and infuriating
short edition of out of frame
a lot of people aren't really aware of
what's happening to the uyghurs
at the hands of the communist party so
it might not be
immediately obvious why so many people
are upset about disney's
special thanks section for mulan
according to chinese government claims
xinyang is an autonomous province within
china and their interactions with the
uyghur people are for the purpose of
assimilating them into chinese culture
and for providing job training centers
according to other sources like amnesty
international
human rights watch the united nations
and you know
people were actually there the reality
is
far more insidious the chinese
government and the uyghur muslims living
in china
have had tense relations for years after
a brief
and ultimately failed bid for
independence in the early 20th century
the cultural religious and economic
restrictions placed on the uyghurs
gradually became
more and more oppressive now
the inner parliamentary alliance on
china has stated
a body of mounting evidence now exists
alleging mass incarceration
indoctrination extrajudicial detention
invasive surveillance
forced labor and the destruction of
uyghur cultural
sites including cemeteries together with
other forms of abuse to be clear the
other forms of abuse mentioned
are cutting weaker birth rates through
forced sterilization
forced abortions and forced long-term
contraceptive measures like
iuds these acts by china's government
meet the accepted definition of genocide
any one of these actions would be reason
enough for protest
taken together they're enraging
china's communist party is currently
engaged in a major abuse of human rights
targeted against a specific religious
group
and it's all happening primarily in
xinyang province
whose multiple propaganda agencies
disney so profusely thanked in the
credits for mulan
a movie that also stars several notable
chinese actors
who have made numerous public statements
supporting the ccp
it's not a good look for disney and look
i'm pretty sensitive to the challenges
of filmmaking
as i said in the episode on chinese
censorship last year
making a movie in china featuring
chinese locations and getting it
screened in chinese theaters
was always going to require some level
of interaction
and compliance with the chinese
government just like it would if you
made a movie anywhere else
but if that means having to thank their
propaganda ministries while
ignoring genocide happening a few miles
from your set
maybe you should reconsider the whole
production
also on the long list of things i find
incredibly frustrating about this
situation
is the level of hypocrisy on display by
disney
back in may of last year bob iger
suggested that it would be
very difficult to continue filming in
the state of georgia
where i live because of the recent
passage of a pretty strict anti-abortion
bill
the company was taking a public stance
on a moral and political issue
while strongly insinuating that their
values would guide their production
decisions
going forward iger said that he couldn't
see how it would be
practical for disney to continue to
shoot in georgia if the heartbeat bill
was passed
that's clearly their prerogative but
apparently disney's moral compass didn't
have
anything to say about the practicality
of filming in a province where
ethnic cleansing was and still is
actually happening
regardless of your opinion on abortion
law in georgia
this behavior is a testament to just how
skewed disney's priorities are
maybe they thought that since so few
people know what's happening to the
uyghurs in
xinyang no one would really notice that
they thanked the agencies in charge of
overseeing as many as 3 million
imprisoned muslims but if that's true it
only makes it worse
what we do when we think no one will
notice matters
most of all beyond issues of character
this kind of behavior also perpetuates
the harmful stereotype that businesses
and business people all of them are
nasty
greedy and unethical and will do
literally
anything if it means padding their
bottom line
and it ultimately betrays one of the
most important themes of mulan
itself mulan is supposed to be about a
young woman who defies the expectations
imposed on her by others bucking the
notion of go along to get along
to do the things she knows to be right
it's about a heroic individual
standing up to an oppressive society
that's
not what happened here i'm never going
to tell you what movies you should
or shouldn't watch a lot of people
worked on mulan who had no control over
these decisions and
may not have even known that any of this
was going on a few miles from their
production
and it is possible to separate the art
from the artists
and from the circumstances that created
it whether you pay to see mulan or not
is a decision only you can make as for
me
i will not be making time for this film
instead i'll use those few hours to
remind people that chinese communism in
the 21st century
looks a lot like it did in the 20th
century
after a few decades where it seemed like
they might be opening up and becoming
a more free society it's clear now
that they're headed right back to where
they were under chairman mao
i don't have the power to fix that but i
do have the power to remember that how
we treat others
and allow others to be treated matters
and the choices all of us make
from which movies to attend as audience
members
to which we produce as filmmakers have
an impact on the world around us
i don't have to stand by and let china's
communist horror show
go unnoticed or ignore disney's decision
to praise the same agencies that are
perpetrating a genocide
on the other side of the world and
neither do you
hey everybody thanks so much for
watching this episode
dealt with some pretty tricky subject
matter that i know is
a real sensitive spot for a lot of
people so i'd love to hear what you
think in the comments
but let's make a special effort to be
kind to one another down there

hello everyone i'm professor geek
welcome back to the channel and
so i i saw fan man's video the other day
that he made on bill and ted uh face the
music the new bill and ted movie
and he actually goes in and i recommend
you watching this video if you haven't
seen it because he goes in and shows the
article
that talks about the creator or one of
the co-creators of bill and ted uh
solomon something solomon is his last
name
and he is it's just the usual mo
from hollywood creators today they've
they've
allowed agenda to steer them to some
degree obviously already we don't know
how much it'll be unless you actually
want to go see the movie i'm out i don't
even care about it anymore
but uh but the agenda steers the movie
to some degree and then they get really
defensive and and uh
snippy on social media that anybody
would dare criticize them for it
and he was saying some of the silliest
things of course
you know as fan man points out he's
trying to and he shows them the argument
that he's trying to say well
you know it never we never said that
bill and ted's children were boys we
never said that at the end
of bogus journey when they get back from
the future
they've learned how to play guitar at
that point and they've got they've each
got babies on their back
and they give them to their wives and
they say they say bill says say hello to
little ted
and ted says say hello to little bill
that's i'm sorry any girl named
theodora maybe goes by teddy but not ted
any girl named billy you've got some of
that you know doesn't go by bill
that's stupid and it's it's a it's a
it's a retcon it's it's trying to go
back and slip something in
where it wasn't stop pretending you know
this man well pointed out absolutely
then he said and this is what i really
wanted to latch on to
he said that they're trying to do
something different now because
they always wanted to do something
different he points out how bogus
journey was something very different
than uh than excellent adventure you
know instead of going through time
travel we had them going through
the afterlife basically and stuff and
that was true okay but it was still
essentially a bill and ted movie you
still had the core
of what it's supposed to be is that
focuses on bill and ted
in their friendship and their zaniness
it was a buddy movie
absolutely a buddy movie you can't you
can't take that away
and solomon said in the article too he
said
we've had enough buddy movies he said
you've got the first bill in ted you've
got wayne's world
you've got dumb and dumber you've got
all these movies we wanted to do
something different
you're you're making a bill and ted
movie well you can't do anything
different that's ridiculous that's like
somebody saying well we're making a
superman movie but the world's had
enough superhero movies so we want to do
something different
or that's like somebody saying well
we're doing a star trek series but
the world's had enough star trek series
we want to do something different
uh it's like somebody saying that this
is supposed to be a a
marvel superhero movie but the world's
had enough of that so we want to do
something different
and make it more about agenda and gender
uh
privilege or something like that now
obviously
i'm being facetious to a certain degree
because all of those examples i just
gave you
actually are there wait people you know
what warner brothers say we don't make
superhero movies we make
movies about superheroes and they sucked
they all sucked
what about uh the star trek picard awful
awful because they did
they completely bypassed the uh the
formula
it's not about star trek anymore it's
about agendas and and poorly written uh
garbage that uh patrick stewart just
wants to shove into it
uh and marvel you know the captain
marvel movie you know they dropped the
ball on that
so this is what happens and this is the
point i'm trying to make is this is
hollywood's mo right now
they are are continuously
and determined to not give the public
what they want
but to give the public what they want
the public to want
under the guise of what the public wants
and hope everybody will just swallow it
and be okay and shut up about it
that's what they did that's what they're
doing with uh that's what marvel's done
that's what star wars has done
that's what uh now apparently the bill
and ted movie is going to be about and
again i don't know to the degree of
which it'll be in there
but just the simple principle of the
thing the fact that they already
made this fundamental change with their
daughters and i don't mind again like
fan man said i've got a daughter too i
don't mind that they have daughters but
that's a change
they're changing it and why are they
changing it for the sake of agenda
you can't pretend it's for any other
reason it's for agenda
and that's uh that's not okay and we've
gotta stop just
big out buddy close your ears
i love big l and i love love love that
he can find something good in everything
but if we were all like big al then we
would never receive anything quality
from hollywood
because we would all just go ahead and
pay for and watch whatever they put out
and support it and
and uh and imbibe in it and talk about
it and give them pat them on the back
for it to some degree or find something
at least to pat on the back for it
so it's good that we have our big al and
it's good that we have some people like
that but that needs to be the exception
and not the rule
when it comes to uh to to to those of us
who
decide whether or not we're gonna
support movies and this is a pivotal
time
for this right now as well because we're
just coming back to
the point where people can go back to
theaters and and
see if that's still a thing now i mean
it has changed to a certain degree i i
can imagine
they'll try to stop releasing it on home
release but if uh
i don't i think we can demand that
happens i think that's got a possibility
of being the norm now
which i think would be great because uh
you know the theater experience is just
awful when you have to deal with
everybody else who doesn't you know
respect anybody in the theater and
whatnot so
that's um that's something i think that
we need to uh
to pay attention to but also the kinds
of movies now
i'm not trying to be all uh huffy and
say
you know doom and gloom hollywood will
never blah blah blah just don't support
it just know
it's not that i do think things could
change at some point
but i and uh and as troy points out
troy's been sharing videos in the
facebook group where you know these
these rumors or whatever you know
possibly this is going on in disney and
hey that's great if that happens that's
a good thing if that happens
what my comment on the whole the whole
topic
is is that that's nowhere near enough
and if we just go back and blindly
support them
for doing such things they don't they're
not smart enough to know the difference
they're not smart enough to know oh
they came back because we did this
they'll just say oh they're back now
they're back now so we can keep doing
whatever we want i mean we've seen that
over and over and over again
every like one little step forward you
know slide back down the hill the next
time they try to make a decision
i mean we've seen that with dc we've
seen that with uh
with all these franchises too in the
films
and i made a video years ago i've talked
about it it was really popular was
called dc comics are no longer worth
reviewing
they're simply not and i stand by that
to this day
even though you might have this or that
you know rogue comic that gets released
like the superman digital or whatever
that's cool
dc comics is not worth talking about as
an entity in any kind of positive manner
it's not worth being hopeful about it's
not worth
talking about because the whole system's
still there didio left and that's great
news
deserve to be celebrated but it's all
still
the whole the whole structure still
there to completely
continue to disintegrate everything that
you love about the characters that's not
changing anytime soon
maybe you'll get this rogue comic here
and there and that's fine but dc comics
is no longer something that you can you
know uh
celebrate you know your fandom about in
terms of what's coming out what's new if
you
if you uh prefer the iconic characters
you know it just doesn't work like that
so the uh what what i'm trying to say
now then
is my take on this and this is my take
i'm just one voice in this i mean we've
got you know in our community different
people
uh putting forth their ideas about it
but my take is that hollywood
is no longer worth supporting
or reviewing are getting excited about
i think that this whole again i'm
avoiding watch words for the for you
know for youtube
but the uh everybody staying home and
unable to go to the theaters
has given us a real strong hand to play
here and
and we can do a bit of demanding i think
they're going but if we don't
if we don't step out of the gate strong
and say no we're not putting up
up with x y and z if we just step out of
the gate and say well you know i'll see
it
i'll pay for that sure you know i wanna
there's something good about it i'm sure
you're not you're not telling them
anything you're not sending them any
kind of message
so uh there are like again like just
like dc will put out that that great
robert vendetti superman book you know
i'm not saying that there's nothing ever
going to be of any
worth from hollywood i mean i still hope
against hope that the ghostbusters
afterlife is something
uh that i might like just because of
who's involved and everything and the
the journey that that film and franchise
has taken
recently but uh but we'll see we'll see
as we get more reveals and we'll see if
that's something but
i just i don't think hollywood is worth
giving money to
period for right now i think they need
to they've
started if rumors are true they've
started to get the message our
factions within hollywood might have
started to get the message and that's a
good thing that's good
but for that message and for that lesson
to really sink in
we need to give them time they're not
smart enough the the marketing the
targeting groups
they need you know if disney started to
crumble a little bit that's a good thing
you know
and if they've made some changes that's
a good thing but they need to crumble
more
and they need to make more changes if
they learn
that this is something they can just
kind of okay so-and-so gets the boot we
bring so-and-so in okay we change this
up a little bit here
okay there all right good everything's
fine no lesson you know it's like it's
like disciplining a child
you know you can't just uh just say okay
don't do that again you know you have to
teach them
a lesson and that's what hollywood needs
right now
the people in hollywood those who are in
power they just they
they count out to this uh to this agenda
seekers out there and then they've
interwoven themselves into the system
and it's going to take something
something strong and uh
drastic to weed them out and to get to
get the system to correct itself i mean
his choices many times hollywood is a
business after all and i agree with that
uh
i just think that uh for the business
part to take over and correct
the ideologue part it's gonna need a
strong spanking
basically it's what i think

well i don't know what to tell you these
directors don't even know the absolute
basics
the absolute basics about the characters
and the films and franchises that they
are gifted
and that's exactly what happens when
disney is more concerned about what is
between someone's legs when hiring a
director
then maybe hiring the right person now
black widow
is a movie that i'm still excited to see
it is a movie i will stream
and not see in the theater given all the
relevant
revelations around uh black widow
i'm sorry disney themselves but how many
times have we seen this before
first time director gets awarded and
they're more you know
you know they're more concerned with hey
i'm a woman this is great
woman director oops uh we're gonna call
the movie
um instead of calling the movie harley
quinn
we're gonna call it birds of prey in the
fantabulous
emancipation of one harvey quinn
only a woman could have thought of that
name sorry ladies
i know i have four percent four percent
of my viewers
are female and i appreciate you and i'm
sure you would have known better
but yikes speaking of which
we're almost under the 40 mark we're at
like 40.6 percent of my viewers that are
not subscribed
i hope today will be the day you click
that subscribe button
right now did you do it
i would really appreciate it i can tell
that
when people actually do that and they
interact with the videos
we do so much better on this channel and
of course i work for all of you
you don't have to but i really
appreciate it
now for a long time i've talked about
these directors that disney has
with that inherit these beloved
franchises
and they don't care about the franchise
it's just like you get
apparently people like ryan roundhead
johnson
uh to direct movies like the last jedi
with star wars
the more concerned about the politics of
the director or if they fit the right
mold
than if the director took even a minute
of their time to understand it
the director of black widow
said that scarlett johansson's character
natasha
romanov is the only avenger without
superpowers
are you kidding me like most of the
avengers don't have superpowers have you
ever thought about that
hawkeye doesn't have super powers
natasha romanoff black widow doesn't
have super powers
robert downey jr has iron man doesn't
have super powers
he's super rich you might call that a
superpower have you subscribed yet
clicked like it helps more than you
could know
rant continues and i'm not i'm not
saying like look
even i am a casual fan of modern
avengers
lore you know in the avengers films
they're popcorn movies meant to do
low risk be highly entertaining and sell
tickets
that's fine this isn't some deep
dark you know the hometown it's not like
she didn't know the hometown of where
hawkeye was born
or he you know this is like
table stakes
the avengers mostly don't have super
powers
you have the incredible hulk yes okay
that
clearly right black widow
kate shortland black widow director kate
shortland recently declared that
scarlett johansson's natasha romanoff is
the only avenger without super powers
probably
trying to say woman get the short end of
the stick
shortland's comments came while pro
promoting the film
in an interview with total film along
with actress florence pooh
pooh the director falsely claimed that
black widow's the only character that
doesn't have superpowers in the avenger
apparently hawkeye gets the short end of
the stick again
also iron man technically doesn't have
powers
but he has access to the super suit
others like ant-man
falcon war machine also only use suits
and do not have super powers
this is what i'm saying like this is the
like a majority of superheroes in the
marvel universe i won't say a majority
but a sizable
chunk do not have super powers
after falsely claiming that black widow
is the only one who doesn't have
superpowers
she claims the lack of superpowers is a
strength
what
sherlin explains we saw that as a
strength because she always has to dig
really deep to get out of bad situations
and we put her in a lot of hard
situations
i thought about women walking into the
train station
and having to deal with that and what
happens
so exactly she tried to be woke about it
saying that
the that black widow is like oh black
widow's
uh you know been tossed aside
because of some ism she doesn't have
superpowers
i'm i am i being that hard am i going
too hard on this director
like you it'd be one thing if you said
it an offhand remark
okay but it feels like completely a
completely different thing
that you literally spun it as the reason
you made the film the way you did
so you're not just watching her fly
through situations knowing she'll get
out of it
she want you want to see her grit and
determination and that's what we got
shortly concluded the actress would also
weigh in
on the film and say that it is about the
taking advantage
of women she told she told total film
the film is about the uh bad things
that happen to women it's about how they
get involuntary
hysterectomies at the age of eight it's
about girls who are taken from around
the world it's so painful
and it's so important
really i just wanted to see black widow
totally kicking butt now i'm it's it's
supposed to
black widows woke now part of the
excitement for me is about women and
girls from around the world getting to
see
this and that they're going to see this
kind of story that was really challenged
by its own victims
she added for a marvel film to be
reaching all those levels it's really
exciting
the best thing about it is it's not
layered on with a color of gray
you'll see these women strive and be
strong they're tough and yet they still
need to discuss
how they were taken advantage of it's an
incredibly powerful piece
girl it's a marvel film
stop trying to act like these films are
changing lives
she just previously described the film
to actor bonnie feldstein
and variety's actors on actor segment as
raw and very
painful i started
she stated i think we've got something
very raw and very painful
and very beautiful and i think people
are really going to be surprised by the
outcome
of a big action film having that much
heart sounds
like it's like i'm actually less excited
now to see the movie
if that's what we're really trying to
portray i don't see scarlett johansson
as
that type of actress she's really never
been that way
i know lots of people will be emotional
about her because her character had such
a hard ending in avengers end game
but it was special learning from her and
she's been doing this for like 10 years
for her to be in this film is special
and i got to be there to see her do
stunts and
and lives in it lives in it and it's so
her
it's currently black widows currently
scheduled to be released in theaters
november 6 the week before the
playstation 5 in the united states on
october 28th in the uk
i i assume disney will probably also
release
this for a video on demand um
you know and if you go even in the
comics here as the dad bought reports
she had in immortality in the comics she
also has super technology like zappy
hands and armored costume and whatnot
she's about as super powered as hawkeye
and falcon i don't co
tony or ant-man either because they have
powers that are just more they don't
have powers
other than just armor or a flight pack
of course they know nothing about the
characters
marvel's race to irrelevancy makes me
smile let me know
do you think that this changes anything
for you
i feel like i don't want to reward a
director who doesn't understand even the
basics of the marvel cinematic universe
and perhaps this is exactly why these
films have gotten so sanitized and
boring
let me know what you think in the
comment section down below are you gonna
brave the theaters to see black widow
are you considering getting in a vod are
you considering maybe jumping in a boat
and
paddling out to deeper waters make sure
that you click that like button leave a
comment
and subscribe i hope you enjoyed this
video we'll talk to you again real soon

I've lived long enough to see the interracial gay couple become the bigots.
